Agencies

The agencies of Senate provide specific services to UT students. The agencies are Analecta, Undergraduate Research Journal, and DemTex.

Analecta is the official Literary and Arts Journal of the University of Texas. An entirely student-run publication, Analecta is produced by a small group of undergraduate students committed to finding exceptional work by both undergraduate and graduate students. Analecta features a manifold collection of poetry, prose (both essays and fiction), dramatic works, and visual arts. Analecta’s mission is to produce a journal of art and literature that poignantly reflects the diversity of experience and overwhelming talent present in the UT community.

Analecta’s Editor in Chief for the 2007-08 academic year is Hannah Bloch-Wehba. You may contact her at hannahbw@gmail.com.

The Undergraduate Research Journal (URJ) is published each year by students to highlight some of the substantial research efforts put forth by our undergraduates.  The journal’s interdisciplinary nature makes it an even better read for students who are curious to know what scholarly activities are taking place across campus.

The URJ’s Editor is Shawn Mathuri. You may contact him at shawnmathur@gmail.com.

The Program for Democratic Education at Texas (DemTex) was started in 2005 to provide students with the opportunity to engage in democratic, egalitarian classes. These classes are student designed and run.  Past classes have ranged from "Philosophy of Video Game Design" to "Latin Performing Arts" to "Genocide."

Opportunities to be involved with DemTex are always available. If you're interested in leading your own class, becoming a member of the DemTex team, or just want more information about Democratic Education, please contact Coordinating Directors Joshua Ogden-Davis and Stephanie Cantu at utdemtex@gmail.com.

You can find the application for serving on the Coordinating Board here.

Also, please note that the due date for the application is Monday, September 29 at 5:00 PM.
