Appropriations
Dear student leader,
It is with great pleasure that I present to you the spring 2008 Senate of College Councils funding application. As the Senate's Financial Director, I am excited to oversee Senate’s distribution of $5,000 each semester to University of Texas at Austin student organizations. We look forward to working with your organization to benefit students and the University.
Though we work to be flexible to the needs of different organizations, please note the following guidelines when applying for Senate funding:
If your organization receives funding from the Senate, you will receive notification of the award on the Saturday of the week following the week of the interview. Funds will generally not be available until the Monday after the notification is sent.
Only student organizations that are registered with the Student Activities and Leadership Development (SALD) Office may apply for funding.
Programs or events must be of direct benefit to students of The University of Texas at Austin in order to receive funding from the Senate.
Advertising or promotional materials for the funded event must recognize the Senate of College Councils as a supporter.
Some items, such as food, drinks, alcohol, flowers, greeting cards, reimbursements, travel expenses, off-campus rentals, or conference fees, cannot be funded by the Senate.
Funding approved by the Senate during the spring semester must be spent before May 2, 2008.
Funding for t-shirts will not exceed $200. T-shirts funded by the Senate must recognize Senate as a supporter, and must not be sold for any reason.
All decisions made by the Senate of College Councils, the Senate Finance Committee, and the Senate Financial Director are final.
You may choose to apply for any of the three fall appropriations sessions listed below, but organizations may not apply more than once for the same program or event. Applications must be e-mailed to senateappropriations@gmail.com no later than 4:00 PM on the appropriate due date. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
After submitting the application, please call (512) 232-2948 to set up an interview time. Interview sessions occur two days after the application deadline. During the interview, a representative from your organization will have three minutes to present the funding request to the Senate Finance Committee, and will answer questions from the Committee for an additional three minutes. Your organization will be notified of the amount awarded via e-mail approximately one week after the interview session.
