Professor of the Semester
Professor of the Semester is an award designed to honor outstanding faculty at The University of Texas through college council nominations. Once a semester, instructors are chosen by the Faculty Affairs Committee. The Professor of the Semester should be someone who demonstrates outstanding teaching ability and a commitment to their students and the university. The instructor will be chosen based on the quality of student responses in the form. Careful consideration will be given to the character and professionalism of the nominee, as well as in-class interactions with the instructor.
Professor of the Year
Senate’s Professor of the Year is an award given to one instructor at the university. The Professor of the Year should be someone who demonstrates outstanding teaching ability and a commitment to their students and the university. The instructor will be selected by a panel and the winner will be chosen based on the quality of the responses to the questions in the application with careful consideration given to the CIS results of the nominee. The winner will receive a check for $1,000 – courtesy of the Senate of College Councils – at the President’s Reception during Faculty Appreciation Week, along with other rewards.
Teaching Assistant of the Semester
Teaching Assistants (TAs) are also a vital component of a student’s education here at UT-Austin. In 2013, Senate created the TA of the Semester and TA of the Year awards to recognize the contributions of Teaching Assistants to our education. The TA of the Semester recipients will be invited to the President’s Reception during Faculty Appreciation Week. All four recipients will be considered for the TA of the Year Award, which will be awarded at the reception..
