Our Mission

Since 1966, the Senate of College Councils has served as the official voice for students in academic affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. As one of three Legislative Student Organizations at the university, Senate works to represent the needs, concerns and opinions of students through the 20 College Councils. The Senate of College Councils is jointly sponsored by the university’s Provost and Vice President for Student Affairs. Senate's representational structure focuses on the student populations of the 18 different schools and colleges on campus as represented by their respective college councils. By segmenting the campus, the overall student population of 50,000 becomes much more manageable. Our internal structure revolves around an executive board, eight internal standing committees, and at-larges.

Together, we advocate for academic issues and ideas on the Forty Acres to continue to make this campus a renowned  Tier 1 research university. In the past, we have helped the implementation of the interactive degree audit, re-shaped the Honor Code, and made undergraduate research more accessible. We have also put on a number of events to connect with campus, including Faculty Appreciation Week and IntegrityUT Week.

Here, you will find a lot of information on that, our current initiatives as well as resources to help you best take advantage of the resources on campus. Of course, we are always looking to strike up a conversation so please feel free to share your feedback on this site or social media or even come visit us at SAC 2.101. We are always excited to better represent the 50,000 students at the University.
